For the fifth year in a row, the Smiles’R’Us group, lead by Tarun Mendiratta, Manish Maramchandani, and Srini Hebbale, spent their Labor Day weekend ( September 2nd and 3rd 2017) supporting SOFKIN. The dedicated group of over a dozen families, friends, and relations was at the Mercer County Park selling beverages and food to the visitors at the Indo American Fair to raise funds for SOFKIN.
Hats off to their dedication as they spend the two days of the holiday weekend, rain or shine, to support our cause. Young and old alike chip in with whatever chores they could perform, with the effort of over a month of planning culminating in a seamless operation. The selfless sacrifice and service speaks volumes about their association with the cause to improve the lives of orphaned and destitute children.
Over Labor Day weekend, 2017, they raised well over $18,000. By invoking the corporate social responsibility of the organizations they work in, they were able to initiate corporate matching for fund raising and volunteer hours. The corporations involved are Barclays Corporation, Verizon Communications, Bank Of America, JP Morgan Chase, CVS Pharmacy, and BNY Mellon.
The SOFKIN Board of Directors and Trustees cannot thank enough the dedication and commitment of Smiles’R’Us and look forward to a continued relationship with this amazing group in the years to come.
In our next blog, we’ll be highlighting the exciting 10 Year Celebration of SOFKIN Hyderabad and all of the progress on the new homes.
